BTX (also known as Botulinum Toxin), the active ingredient in Botox, is a useful treatment for treating spasticity in cerebral palsy (for mild to  moderate cases). This long-lasting medication lasts for several months at a time and is localized, making it suitable for patients who have spasticity in two or three individual muscle groups (rather than global spasticity throughout the body). This medication has been proven to be very safe, with only very rare cases of side effects. Parents or guardians who choose to use BTX as a treatment for their children’s spasticity should follow up with their doctors six to eight weeks after injection in order to determine the treatment’s effectiveness and whether the dosage can be modified.

Children with cerebral palsy caused by medical malpractice deserve a secure and healthy future. If your child requires Botox treatment for their cerebral palsy, and you suspect that it was due to a case of medical negligence, please contact us for a free case evaluation, or call us at (888) 592-1857. We do not request payment until your case has been won.
